It is always recommended to have a damage assessment following a quarter sized or larger hailstorm. Your newer roof may have been a poor-quality shingle, or there may have been microbursts/straight-line winds that caused significant damage that only an industry expert would be trained to identify.
Impact resistant shingles are a great option to invest in as you can take up to a 1 3/4″ hailstone with little to no concern of damage to your shingles.
